How to See Deleted Discord Messages

Discord allows us to stay connected with our friends, family, and colleagues via text, audio, and video calls in this digital era. Moreover, it’s quite a popular platform among gamers to communicate with other players online.

The communication can take a wrong turn if the opponent player misconducts and sends you an offensive message on Discord. Before you can take any action, the sender may delete the message. And you won’t have any proof to report harassment or abusive behavior to Discord.

If you are wondering how to see deleted Discord messages, you are at the right place. The following article discusses methods to view deleted messages on Discord using bots and plug-in.

Can I See Deleted Messages on Discord?

The answer is plain, no. Once the Discord message is deleted, it’s gone for good forever. Just to repeat, once you or the sender deletes a chat or message, the Discord servers don’t keep a record as stated by the Discord Privacy policy.

Conversely, the Discord audit logs may contain the deleted messages you can’t retrieve from within the app.

However, don’t worry; some methods can help you retrieve the deleted messages on Discord.

Discord Bots

If you want to keep a record of deleted messages, Discord bots can help you with that. This way, the bot maintains message logs, allowing you to report the erased messages of the people who harass you online.

However, you need to own a Discord server to enable Discord bots. After that, all you need to do is to select a channel where the bot can perform the following two main tasks:

  • Share the logs
  • View erased messages

To summarize, a bot automatically creates a log of the messages you receive. This way, if a flamer annoys you in the middle of your game, you don’t have to stop and take a screenshot. It’s because the bot can do the entire work at the backend. Now, you can report the person to Discord.

Want to Report a Deleted Message on Discord?

If someone conducts abusive behavior with you on a Discord message and deletes it right away, you can still report it. All you need to do is request online Discord customer support and send the user ID and server ID. To make your case more substantial, you can also attach evidence such as the screenshot of the deleted message if available.

This way, the Discord support team can take relevant action against the flamer or spammer.

You must be wondering how to know someone’s user ID to report. You can copy ID only if the Discord developer mode is enabled. Once you have the desired information, you can fill the Discord online reporting form.

From the drop-down menu, you need to select the “Trust & Safety” category. Next, enter your email ID, and report type. Finally, you can choose the relevant category of the issue and add a description. Moreover, adding an attachment is optional, and you can attach a screenshot or previous chat conversation if available with you.

Conclusion

With the increasing popularity of messaging apps, certain people can use the platform to send an abusive text to annoy someone. However, they can later remove it to destroy any evidence against them.

You can proactively take a screenshot if you anticipate a user’s abusive behavior. However, it indeed isn’t a feasible solution.
