Any laptop, including HP, Dell, MacBook, Toshiba, Lenovo, can face this problem. Although this isn’t a super common issue, know that you’re not alone if you have a pink computer screen.

If you want to know how to fix the pink screen of your laptop, then you are in the right spot. We have compiled a few ways to fix your laptop’s pink screen.

What is a Pink Screen?

All the electronic devices, including laptops and computers which carry a display, use an RGB color scheme. RGB refers to the colors red, green, and blue.

A pink screen is formed when the color pink becomes more prominent due to discoloration on your laptop screen. This pink color is created when red and blue are at maximum and green is somewhere between them.

This pink color might cover your whole computer screen or appear in the form of marks. In addition to this, it can also occur as horizontal or vertical lines.

Causes of a Pink Screen on your Laptop

Why is the screen of your computer pink in the first place? The causes of it can be classified into two types: hardware and software.

To figure this out, you need to connect your laptop to an external monitor. If the external monitor shows any pink tint, it is a software problem; otherwise, it is a hardware problem. Some of the hardware and software issues are listed below:

Hardware

  • Drive failure
  • Defective connections
  • Detached cables
  • Faulty monitor

Software

  • Virus
  • Faulty apps or software
  • Out of date graphic drivers
  • Illegally installed software

How to Fix the Pink Screen on Laptop

To solve this frustrating problem, we have compiled several ways to fix the pink screen of your laptop. You may solve your problem with just one step, or you may need to follow all of the solutions.

Restart your laptop

Your laptop might be having a rough day. Any program running in the background might be causing an issue with the display.

Therefore, begin solving this issue with this easy and simple trick. First, turn your computer on and off and see if it works. If this trick doesn’t work, hop on to the next one.

Examine recently installed programs

If you are using any product associated with your graphic card, uninstall it immediately and see if this solves the problem. External applications are likely to cause this error. For example, applications such as True color can cause this issue to appear.

If you are using any similar application, remove it and see if that solves the problem.

Update your drivers

Updating your graphic card drivers might help you fix the pink screen of your laptop. Here’s how you can do it:

  • Click on the Win + X buttons at the same time
  • Click on the device manager
  • Expand it by going to your display adapters
  • Update drivers by right-clicking the displayed drivers
  • A dialog box will open
  • Choose Search automatically for updated driver software

To fully install the driver, follow the instructions. Once done, restart your computer and see if this works for your screen.

Check Your Graphics Card and Monitor

The pink screen can be a hardware failure. To check this, you need to test your laptop display on a different PC.

If the issue does not reappear on an external monitor, check your graphic card. If possible, connect a different monitor to your PC or remove your graphics card and replace it with a different one.

If the problem does not appear with the new graphics card, the old one is defective. Therefore, before you replace your hardware, you should double-check your cables. First, of course, you should connect the cable correctly.

Furthermore, before replacing your monitor or graphics card, it’s better to replace your cable and look for physical damage.

Reinstall Software

Sometimes when you install specific software, it doesn’t get installed properly due to some corrupt files. Hence, it is advisable to reinstall any previously installed software.

Make sure to install the latest version of the software.

Check GPU Temperature

A pink screen sometimes indicates that your laptop is overheated. For example, if you haven’t cleaned your laptop in a while, dust may have gotten into the fans, causing the graphics card to overheat.

To confirm this, you can install a particular application to check if the GPU temperature is causing the problem. If it is, you know how you can fix the pink screen.

Reinstall games that cause issues

Another way to fix the pink screen of your laptop is to reinstall the problematic games. Discoloration on the screen often appears while running a specific game on your laptop. This indicates that the installed game is corrupted.

Therefore, you need to reinstall such games and check for the latest versions available. It is ideal for installing the latest version of any app.

Night Light

Another simple fix to this problem is that you may have accidentally turned on your device’s night light.

If it happened unexpectedly on your laptop and you’ve never had it before, this is most likely the source of the problem. But, of course, this is a simple fix – turn off the night light.

Use older graphics card drivers

The last method to fix the screen of your laptop is to use older graphic card drivers. Although we have emphasized using the latest driver, several users have reported the latest Nvidia drivers caused the screen to turn pink.

Therefore, it is recommended to install old Nvidia drivers and see if it resolves the issue. First, you can install the drivers from the device manager. After this, you can go to the manufacturer’s website and install drivers a couple of months old.

Conclusion

Having a pink laptop might sound exciting, but a pink screen can be annoying than anything. So fixing this issue might not be so difficult in most cases. However, if the tricks mentioned above do not work, you need to get a professional to resolve this issue.
