If you have experienced POE 1, you will find that there are not only many bosses in the game, but each of them has its own unique combat mechanism and characteristics, and the same is true in Path of Exile 2.
Perhaps this will make you feel that it is a bit difficult to advance the game process smoothly, but often the more this is the case, the more valuable the joy after conquering the boss is, isn’t it? Not to mention that their death will also bring you a lot of dropped POE 2 Currency, which will help you further build and improve your game achievements.
As one of the ultimate bosses in POE 2, it is obviously quite difficult if you want to get the task reward of Doryani. Although you may have a lot of experience and a better build when you encounter him, he will also be more difficult to deal with than the previous bosses.
Based on this, we start from both melee and ranged aspects to provide you with some suggestions on how to defeat him for reference.
Where Is Doryani?
Doryani is an important boss in POE 2 Act 3, located in The Testing Pit area of The Black Chambers. To successfully trigger the fight with him, you first need to defeat Viper Napuatzi in Utzaal. Once you win this hard fight with Viper Napuatzi, you can explore Aggorat to find the entrance to The Black Chambers.
In this area, you have to look for bridges rising from the water, which will lead you to Doryani. Or you can go through other routes to challenge more enemies. But don’t forget to find Sacrificial Heart in Utzaal and bring it to Sacrificial Altar in Aggorat, so that you can get two passive skill points.
The Key Idea Of Defeating Doryani
The fight with Doryani actually consists of two phases. In the first phase, he is called Doryani, Royal Thaumaturge; and when he has about 50% of his health left, he will enter the second phase and jump into a mech called Doryani’s Triumph to continue fighting with you. This mech can easily kill even the most powerful tanks with one hit.
So before fighting Doryani, you first need to make sure you are at level 45 or above. If this is not possible, then you need to be more careful with your equipment. For example, try to find armor with better resistance, or improve your energy shield and dodge skills. In addition, if you buy POE 2 Regal Orbs in advance, it will be helpful to use them to upgrade your magic items to rare levels.
During the battle, this boss can deal multiple types of damage, but usually Fire and Chaos are the main ones. Therefore, if you have amulets or rings that protect against these types of damage, it is recommended that you equip them before fighting Doryani to increase your resistance to these two types of damage.
In addition, we also recommend wearing boots that increase movement speed, or lighting up passive skills that increase movement speed. The extra movement speed will help you win this battle, because facing some of Doryani’s attacks, running away is the best way to avoid them.
How To Deal With Melee Mode?
In fact, in the melee situation of the first stage, you need to pay special attention to the fireballs and overhead bolts summoned by the boss, both of which require you to stay as far away from him as possible to avoid them. On the other hand, if you have enough Chaos and Fire resistance to take on the boss head-on, you’ll want to swing your mace or staff as much as possible to weaken him.
The overall melee attack pattern of Doryani in the second phase is similar to that of the first phase, but you’ll need to pay more attention to his movements. Often, you can use skills like Leap Slam or Vaulting Impact to get out of danger quickly, because when the mech starts to lift off and slam you, you can only escape potentially fatal damage by quickly moving to the left or right edge of the impact zone.
You also need to watch out for the enemy’s back laser attack. To do this, you’ll have to move to the left or right side of Doryani to avoid being hit. And when lightning is chasing you around the arena, stop attacking and move around the mech to avoid taking too much damage.
How To Take Advantage In Long-Range Situations?
Although it’s a long-range situation, it’s still recommended that you stay as close to Doryani as possible in both phases. It’s important to note that if you rely on energy shields for defense, then after losing them, it’s best to try to back away and avoid his attacks in the first phase in order to regain them. But in the second phase, you’ll need to stop attacking and dodge if necessary.
As with melee combat, remember to avoid Doryani’s fireballs and overhead bolts while dealing damage to him in the first phase – you can back off and deal AOE damage like a wall of fire, or attack him from a distance. However, he will still be able to attack you with ranged attacks during this period, so once the above moves are gone, you must return to close range in time.
As for ranged combat in the second phase, if you have minions available, don’t rely on them, as you will find that they are melted by the enemy before you can use them properly. For this reason, the best strategy is to use spells that take longer to cast after the boss launches a slam-based attack.
In addition, Doryani’s Mech Slam will invalidate most ranged builds, so it is recommended to exchange equipment with movement speed buffs through POE 2 Chaos Orbs in advance, or use teleportation mechanics to escape the attack of this skill. For example, Infernalist Witch can transform into demon form to dodge longer.
But if you don’t have such a skill in your build, consider choosing Leap Slam from Warrior skill tree, or Vaulting Impact from Monk. Alternatively, you can equip a mace or a staff in your second weapon slot, respectively, and switch weapons automatically when using the above skills.
I believe that based on the introduction and help of the above content, you will defeat the boss successfully after multiple attempts with reliable levels and equipment, and continue to advance the game progress and complete the game based on obtaining a large amount of currency. Wish you good luck!
